SYSSS - Week 1 - Bucket Lists!
Hello friends! Welcome to week 1 of Scrap-Your-Stash Summer Saturdays - or SYSSS for short!
Summer is officially here and I hope you ready for 12 weeks of stash busting fun! I'm really looking forward to spending some time with you over the summer...we'll get some layouts and projects done, make a dent in our scrapbook supply stash and have a few laughs along the way! Oh, and there probably will be prizes! YAY!
How it works: Each Saturday until September 8th I'll provide you with the theme of the week and a checklist of supplies. You'll "shop" your supply stash and choose the items and photos that you want to use. The checklist will be specific to the TYPE of items you'll need, but you'll have total flexibility as to the ACTUAL item you choose to use. For example, the checklist might say "floral paper, cardstock, flower embellishments", but you can choose the color & style of the floral paper, the color of cardstock to coordinate with it and whether you want to use die-cuts, stickers, or punched flower embellishments. Substitutions are encouraged: if you don't have or don't like a suggested item in your stash, switch it up for something you do have/like. For example if you absolutely hate floral papers, sub in a striped or other patterned paper, cardstock to coordinate and some geometric embellishments. It's totally up to you! All that's left to do once you've chosen your items is to create and share! (Note: feel free to use ANY brand of supplies - you do not need to use Creative Memories...although that's probably what you'll see in my layouts ha ha!) Having said that, let's get going and talk about BUCKET LISTS!

Each one of us probably has very different plans for the 12+ weeks ahead. You might be looking forward to vacations, adventure trips, taking a course, completing some home projects, road trips, camping, outdoor living, sightseeing, visiting with family and friends or simply enjoying lazy sunny days. What's on your calendar for the summer? Have you got it all planned out or are you going to go with the flow? Either way, let's look at the summer stretched out before us and create a layout with a Bucket List theme. Here's our Supply List for this week:
-12" x 12" blue paper for background (could be solid cardstock or patterned paper)
-Yellow solid or patterned paper (can be scraps and you can use a variety)
-Beige paper - again, could be solid, patterned and can definitely be scraps
-Sea/water/beach/summer themes embellishments - think starfish, shells, palm trees, beach toys etc. --Dig in that stash of leftovers!
-Free "Summer 2018" Printable from Organized and Creative Mom Shop
-Any other supplies you want to add once your layout starts to take shape
-Optional: coloring and mixed media materials - pens, pencil crayons, inks, paints etc. And here are the supplies I plan on using:

I'm going to be using some papers from the old "Cabana" power palette...one of the first power palettes that CM released. The papers are not a full 12" x 12" size though, so I may need to wallpaper the blue onto a piece of cardstock, or simply hunt around a bit more to find a piece of blue cardstock in my stash that works with the colors in the Cabana kit. I'm also using the beige tone on tone papers and the full sheet of summery stickers from the same collection! The piece-de-resistance was that I found a package of "Perfect Fit Yellows" from old CM WITH the cut-apart journaling boxes! I've got my CM pens, which might be a little bright, as well as my collection of watercolor pencil crayons. Spend some time going through your supplies to see what you've got...really dig around to find some forgotten treasures! Then think about how they might work in a layout. Also think about whether you have a lot of summer bucket list items that you want to write down? Maybe a list style layout would work. Or maybe you want to create more of a vision-board of all the things you'd LIKE to do? Why not add lots of little photos! No photos? Words and doodles are A-OK too! If you need some inspiration, take a look at the Pinterest board of images I've gathered here. There's a good variety of single page layouts, double page layouts and Project Life style layouts, as well as lists and bullet journal type pages. Scroll through and see what catches your eye! As for the "bucket" printable...feel free to use it (or not!) however you like. Cut it out and trace the shape of the bucket and shovel onto some patterned paper. Cut out the letters and use them for a title. Color in the bucket and shovel and use both images on your layout. Cut out the banners and journal on them or trace them onto bright patterned paper and make flags or decorative embellishments out of them. Got some ideas? Great! Your next steps are: 1) Finalize and select your materials 2) Download and print the Bucket List Printable from the OCM Shop3) Create your layout 4) Take a photo of it and post it on the OCM Facebook page in the Week 1 Album (follow the link or choose "Photos" from the left hand sidebar on the main page, click on the Week 1 image, and then click on "Add Photos") You can post it anytime, but those that are posted in the album by next Friday night just might have a chance at our first prize! I'll share my take on this theme on the facebook page tomorrow! Happy scrapping!
