Ideas to Str-e-e-e-tch Your Scrapbook Dollar
Keep your layouts simple
Stick to the basics…cardstock and patterned paper can go a long way
Put more than one photo on your page
Use a page plan to help you plan ahead of time for the number of photos and so you don’t waste materials.
Make a page kit: go through your stash and pick out papers/scraps and embellishments that coordinate well with your photos. Stick them all inside a page protector or gallon size zip-loc bag and you have everything you need to create your page. No shopping required
Don’t “wall paper” your page…instead, cut or tear strips of paper and adhere it to your page only where it will show.
Use 1/3/5 embellishments instead of a whole strip of stickers.
Trim out back of frames/mattes for another use. No one will see that there is no paper behind the photo!
Use one piece of patterned paper across a two page layout…cut into halves, 2/3 to 1/3, make strip borders or cut into fourths and cover page in patchwork pattern.
A good basic black journaling pen can be used for hand writing your journaling (a nice personal touch) and doodling or drawing your embellishments—a huge trend right now!
Use your scraps to punch mini-shapes, or cut scraps into squares. Store in baggie to use later
